HMB (hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate) is a derivative of the amino acid L-leucine, which is part of the BCAA complex.

HMB can create our body by itself, from the amino acid L-leucine, but it is only a minimal amount, because for example, for only 3 g of HMB, over 60 g of L-leucine is needed. And that is really a lot.
